Make Easy Wood Carrots Repurposed From Wood Bobbins
I purchased a huge tub of old wooden bobbins at a garage sale benefitting a local town’s historical society. Y’all it was a GOOD garage sale! Now that I had all of these bobbins the ideas to repurpose them were swirling. And the first project was to make easy wood carrots repurposed from the wood bobbins. These DIY wood carrots are simple to make for kids too, so this would be so much fun as an easy craft for the family.
Step-by-Step Instructions To Make Easy Wooden Carrots
Supplies To Repurpose Wood Bobbins Into Carrots
DIY Wood Carrots
Wood Bobbins (I found mine at a garage sale. Look online at sites like Etsy or in vintage shops). Something similar to use would be small old spindles or vintage wooden clothespins.
Carrot Tops
Because I love thrifting I also purchased the greenery picks I chose for my carrot tops from an estate sale. I have linked some good options from Amazon below to complete your carrots.

Orange Paint
I used acrylic paint in the color “Spiced Carrot” that I got at Walmart. There are many shades of orange craft paint available, find the right shade to make your orange carrot perfect.
I also used hot glue (I love my Ryiobi glue gun!) and a small paint brush.
The Steps To Paint Your Wood Bobbin Carrots
In full disclosure I am a messy painter. I have paint clothes, an apron and still manage to get paint everywhere. LOL. Painting the bobbins was difficult because holding them by the end was not easy and you can only paint one side at a time. That would make this project a slow process!
I found a great way to paint the carrots using a box and lots of wooden skewers. Insert the skewers into a box and place a bobbin on each skewer. The good news is that, when paired with a lazy susan, I got lots of carrots done quickly.
Next step is to add the greenery to your carrot. The wood bobbins I was using to repurpose into carrots had an opening at the top I was able to place my greenery pick into. I squeezed hot glue into that opening and placed the stem of my pick into the hole.
Different Ways To Style Your Wood Carrots Repurposed From Wood Bobbins
Since I was making these for my antique shop I bundled five together and tied together with twine. I created a tag in Canva and printed it on printable cotton canvas.
Use them in vignettes, on a tiered tray, inside dough bowls, or anywhere in your Easter decor.

Fabric Also Makes An Adorable Carrot
Use drop cloth, cotton or any other fabric to create a cone. Using hot glue or by sewing close the seams of your carrot. Use strands of raffia for the carrot top. On Our Greene Acres official YouTube channel she shares a great tutorial for no sew fabric carrots.
