The Best Ideas For A Vintage Booth’s Summer Displays
I have been a booth owner for four years and in that time I have had four booths in four very different antique shops. This antique mall, Clinch River Mercantile, where I have my antique booth now for the first time feels like my own home. It’s in my local area, the other vendors are friendly and helpful, and the vintage items are beautifully displayed and put together with care and a sense of style.
Speaking of care and a sense of style, let’s take a look at the best ideas for a vintage booth’s summer displays that are in my own vintage booth.
What My Business Name Means
Jesus is telling us in Luke 12:6-7 and Matthew 10:29-31 that these little sparrows that are bought for next to nothing are valuable to God and He knows if even one falls to the ground. Two sparrows are sold for a penny OR you can get a DEAL and get five sparrows for two pennies. I don’t know about you but there have been times where I feel like “THE FIFTH SPARROW.”
A Vintage Booth’s Summer Displays On The Island
An island in a vintage booth is a grouping of furniture that sits in the middle of your booth and is a great way to encourage traffic to come in and walk the complete perimeter of your booth. It can act as a focal point with your newest items, a themed display for seasonal items, or vintage collections you want to highlight.
And because customers walk around this island it is a great idea to decorate on the surface, and to have items tucked underneath. A drop leaf table is great for this area because as your space needs change you can pull the leaves up or drop them.
Where I Find The Pieces To Resell
On this low round table I have stacked an end table and a small bench. This creates different height levels and interest for the visitors to my booth.
The island was the perfect spot to concentrate on a theme – patriotic home decor. Some were vintage decor and others were upcycled or handmade items.
Coffee stained flags have been flying out the door and I corralled those in a wood toolbox that I upcycled.
Auction paddles, an upcycled item, are in a wood canister. I also made auction paddles for valentine’s day with the number 14 and those sold quickly.
The vintage flashcards I make (or order them in a download and print version) in their display piece sit up front on the island for a quick grab and go!
A beautiful display of red, white and blue items complete the table top. On the bottom half of the island are larger items tucked under the table edge. Things like large picnic baskets, a suitcase, a crate with smaller items, and a camp chair with lanterns are placed underneath or around.
A Vintage Booth’s Camping And Travel Summer Displays
When I started planning the reset for my own booth for the antique festival in our town and for the summer I decided early on I wanted some camping or cabin vintage decor and travel displays.
I did this in two sections of the booth – one on a metal typewriter desk and the other around a student desk.
Minnow basket lights hang over the metal typewriter desk. A botanical print hangs over the desk and on the desk I arranged old school supplies and toys.
Over the student desk I hung oversized clipboards with vintage look travel posters on them. These posters were actually from a calendar I got in the goodwill bins!
A Vintage Booth’s Summer Displays That Are As Sweet As Honey
Look in your own booth, is there a good deal of wall space? One of the great ideas to use this space is a gallery wall. Another perfect way to use this wall space is to put up shelving leaving enough room to easily display items and allow customers to reach in for the item they want.
I put up shelving on the wall above this dresser, this houses the scrabble tile bar and the upper shelf holds all of the spool holders and old crochet thread spools.
On the dresser I have an upcycled honey crate with yellow number tags and small honey dippers that would make great bowl fillers. Next to that I have framed daddy and daughter racing pics from the 1950s and 1960s. And then to finish off the dresser top I have vintage books and shaker boxes in yellow of course!
My Price Tags
Price tags are always a struggle! Do you hand write a gazillion tags? I have found price tags I love, there are a few steps involved but totally worth it. If for nothing else, to avoid hand cramps!
On a perforated hanging tag I place a label with my business info and qr codes with links to my website and social at the top. I create an excel spreadsheet with my items and their prices. That excel spreadsheet is used for my labels that I print on a niimbot printer. The price tags are placed on the bottom of the perforated tag. I use a hang tag string with a snap closure to hang on items or tape onto an item.

The Best Ideas For Smaller Things In Your Summer Displays
On the back wall between the aforementioned dresser and typewriter desk is a tall bookcase that I love to create small vignettes in. Each shelf is its own vignette and in that vignette I repeat colors, stagger heights and use commonly themed items.
One of my favorite ways to style these shelves is using the B method that I use to decorate the top of a china cabinet. The method is to work back to front, use big pieces and things that belong together. I hang small pictures on the back wall of the shelf or I tuck a large picture or printer tray into the back to start this process.
The Best Idea For Adding A Different Style Of Decor In Your Summer Displays
On the beadboard wall above this sofa table is a complete change of pace from red, white and blue to pink, white and green.
I separated all of the pastel cottagey or shabby chic decor onto this one wall using a variety of shelves to create interest and encourage customers to explore.
Just as I did on the island I stacked a small corner shelf on the sofa table that fit in between the shelves. On the shelves I created vignettes with antique collections that were in my home back in Houston. I will be moving into my basement tiny home, I left my china cabinet in Texas and I just won’t have the space for all my collections anymore. Which is why this section is filled with all my milkglass, jadeite and more.
In the back corner I hung the vintage Vogue prints I got at the Goodwill Bins. This acts as a separation between the more rustic vibe of the rest of the booth and this feminine wall of decor.
I made sure to tuck things under the shelves and the sofa table to make the most of my whole booth. I created this display based on the colors in that beautiful painting of flowers. On top of the vintage picnic basket I placed some prints I created and on the chair next to it a vignette with this wonderful first ladies book opened to Mary Todd Lincoln.
In this display, tucked under the sofa table, I placed things for little hands. Some primitive angel dolls and children’s books are arranged on two suitcases. Next to this is a bench that was hand painted with strawberries and vines. On this bench are red items with one more strawberry decor piece – a strawberry recipe file!
Before You Fly Away To Use These Ideas In Your Vintage Booth’s Summer Displays
A vintage booth is a lot of work and a lot of time but it has been amazing for me first as an addition to a full time job and now as just one part of The Fifth Sparrow No More. It creates an income alongside my online shop Twigs & Fluff. I really am living my best life and feel this is exactly what God has in His plan for me. Good luck with your vintage booth and I know it will be beautiful!
