This Basement Will Be My New Home!
I’m moving to Tennessee and this basement will be my new home! It is approximately 600 and some square feet, currently partially finished, and has a car in the middle of it! It is also the basement of my parent’s home which is by far the best part.
I have lived in Texas so long that its the only place I remember from the places I have lived. This decision was not easy to make but with a lot of praying and one comment from a sweet customer on an Instagram sale which felt to me like it was straight from Him.
How I Made The Decision For This Basement Home
My youngest daughter left for college and I am living the empty nester life. I can honestly say, for me, it has not been horrible. I have been able to focus on goals (dreams with a plan) that I have had for the last four years while I helped my daughter live her dream (raising and showing goats, then chickens, and finally a cow).
I would not trade that time with her for anything! The road trips, the nights at the barn, the victories and defeats. It was an amazing time and I will always be thankful for the moments that will be lifelong memories.
I have wanted to move to Tennessee to be close to my parents for years but the time was never right and God was not giving me the go ahead. I prayed and chatted with God a lot about the subject asking to make it very clear that I should go. And He sent me a sweet customer on an Instagram sale named Tesa who said “Enjoy your parents and your daughter can have a fun family life to fly home to… Treasure them while you can.” This made it clear to me that Amory could always fly home and I needed to GO!
A Car Is The Former Tenant Of This Basement Home
I spent a week at my parents lining things up for my move. While there Dad and I measured and made plans for my basement home. And yes, that is a racecar in the middle of my new home! My dad built that and it was the prior tenant of this basement. 😉

The Rough Plans For The Basement That Will Be My New Home!
I am excited about the changes coming to my new little house – a kitchen, splitting the area into a living room and a bedroom, and cute touches like a faux fireplace, an office nook and built ins.
Looking at these plans, my bedroom will be the far left, with the living area, kitchen, and office space on the right. Instead of a wall to separate the living area from the bedroom we will put in a built in. A small space needs all the extra storage it can get right? Vinyl plank flooring will be installed throughout. A drop ceiling will be added that looks like a white tin ceiling.
The bathroom is already in the space and it is huge (in basement home standards). I have plans to paint, wallpaper and update the fixtures. A door will be added to the bathroom into the utility room.
Adding that door will allow us to close up the door that is in the main room that leads into the utility room now. This gives us more wall space for a small refrigerator, a length of cabinets and counter top, and open shelving.
A small island will separate the kitchen from the living area and office space.
The Best Part About My New Basement Home

Yes my sweet friends you can be jealous. This is the view from the back porch. Peaceful, beautiful, and can you imagine it when the leaves change colors? Just wow!
Before You Fly Away ….

That is Sunday, my new puppy. He thrived in Tennessee – chasing after all the things and obviously enjoying the porch as much as I do!
