Love You To The Moon And Back Mantel For Valentine’s
Are ya’ll ready to repurpose your man in the moon from the Fall? I absolutely loved the man in the moon I created for my fall mantel. And I wanted him to be on display again! So I created a love you to the moon and back mantel for Valentine’s Day. This was partly for the man in the moon and for some sentimental reasons too.
A Mantel For Valentine’s Day And A Bit More
Valentine’s Day is first and foremost my daughter’s birthday …
It’s never been about roses or heart shaped boxes of chocolate. Instead it has been about birthday cake, parties of every theme imaginable, and a little girl growing up slowly and surely.
On this Valentine’s Day she will turn eighteen. Writing that makes my throat close up, my stomach drop and makes my eyes leak just a bit.
This mantel with its “love you to the moon and back” is a sentimental nod to when we would read both of our daughter’s the book “Guess How Much I Love You”. A book that tells the story of Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare and how they explore the immeasurable amount of love they have for each other. To the moon and back, to be exact.

And oh my gosh do I love my girls, to the moon and back. This birthday on Valentine’s Day is a hard one to swallow. It has been Amory and I tackling the world together since we started this new life. I want Amory to know as she turns eighteen, then graduates, and heads to college that I love her to the moon and back.
A DIY Sign For The Love You To The Moon And Back Mantel For Valentine’s Day
I chose a wall decal sticker from Amazon for the “love you to the moon and back” and a sign I purchased at a church garage sale for three dollars (whoa big spender!).
Steps For “Love You To The Moon and Back” DIY Sign
Step 1
First I cut out the words from the large sticker sheet. I was disappointed to see that the moon and stars on the sticker sheet were orange so I needed to make my own stars.
Step 2
- With the backing still on place your words on the sign to assure you space them correctly and to your liking.
- Peel off the backing and adhere your stickers to the sign.
- I found that since the sign was stretched burlap that if I placed a book underneath and used a gift card to smooth on the stickers they stuck better.
Step 3
- Place your stencils on sign. Once again a book underneath helps with application.
- Use a small paintbrush or sponge to apply the gold paint.

Love You To The Moon And Back Mantel For Valentine’s Day
The simplicity of this neutral mantel makes it an easy fit for all homes. It uses only four colors – white, black, brown and pink.
On the mantel I first placed a lace tablecloth. Behind the “I love you to the moon and back” sign is an antique buffet mirror. In front of that sign is our man in the moon sign.
In a grouping with the man in the moon is two glass bottles with wrappers created from tissue paper. Two sisal bunnies as a nod to Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare sit in front of those bottles.
On this end of the mantel are two battery operated candles in wooden candlesticks. With them is a black and white beaded garland and two heart shaped copper cookie cutters.
