Finding The beautiful in yourself and your home
Why The Sparrow?
I have questioned my worth, I believed the words of a human more than the words that my beloved Father wrote to me and for me, for all of us. Then my friend Suzanne wrote something that made it all quite clear to me.
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Luke 12: 6-7
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10: 29-31
Jesus is letting us know that these little sparrows that are bought for next to nothing are valuable to God and He knows if even one falls to the ground. Two sparrows are sold for a penny OR you can get a DEAL and get five sparrows for two pennies. I don’t know about you but there have been times where I feel like “THE FIFTH SPARROW.” You know, someone paid for four and the fifth was thrown in for free. Not even paid for. That’s a true feeling of WORTHLESS. The enemy would tell us that the OTHER FOUR were good enough to be bought with a price. BUT YOU are SO unworthy that you were just thrown in because you couldn’t be redeemed.
I don’t want any person to feel like that fifth sparrow, I want them to know they are fully loved by God. In the struggle of finding my worth I asked God what my next steps were and He laid my path out in front of me. To use my God given talent of making beauty out of what was available to me! Creating thrifty decorating projects and helping other women find the beautiful in themselves and their homes. This friendship of likeminded sisters who want to make their home a nest, a place of joy and rest, a place near God is what I was called to – my purpose. And what better name then what brought me here – The Fifth Sparrow No More!
